Something's Happening Here

The Garden City Downtown Development Authority was formed in 1983, using taxes from downtown businesses to fund improvements for other existing and new businesses. Throughout the years, the DDA has completed a major streetscape installation, set up numerous seasonal plantings, sponsored parts of the Santaland Parade, and facilitated many façade improvements. The DDA follows the National Trust for Historic Preservation's "Main Street Approach," which divides volunteers, board members, and staff into four groups. Design, Economic Development, Promotion, and Organization committees work together to accomplish various tasks throughout the downtown district.

The Spooky Scarecrow Stroll will be October 16 through October 24 in Downtown Garden City. Businesses will display scarecrows with various themes and visitors will vote on their favorites. Businesses must display the scarecrows near their building, not near the sidewalk or in the right of way. Check back soon for more information on where to pick up the Downtown Harvest Days hay ride tickets.
