Bid Request for Precast Brick Paver Replacement

May 9, 2012

Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Garden City at the Garden City City Hall, 6000 Middlebelt, Garden City, Michigan until 10:00 a.m., prevailing local time on May 23, 2012 at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud for the Garden City Precast Brick Paver Replacement project.

The work consists of the removal and reinstallation of precast brick pavers in an existing streetscape while amending the sub base as specified. There are also two Bid Alternates that suggests two different concrete finished in lieu of replacing the precast brick pavers.

The Project Area is existing streetscape located primarily at the intersection of Middlebelt and Ford Road in Garden City. See attached map. A Pre-Bid will be conducted Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Garden City DDA office located at 29213 Ford Road, east of Middlebelt, south side of Ford Road. Bidders are encouraged to attend, but the meeting is not mandatory.

Each bidder shall file a statement signed by, or on behalf of the person, firm, association, or corporation has not, either directly or indirectly, entered into any agreement, participated in any collusion, or otherwise taken any action, in restraint of free competitive bidding in connection with the submitted bid. Failure to submit the signed statement as part of the bid proposal will result in rejection of the bid.

All bids remain firm and cannot be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days.

A Bid Bond, Certified Check of Cashier’s Check, in the amount of five (5) percent of the bid submitted, must accompany each proposal, as security for the acceptance of the Contract by the low qualified bidder within ten (10) days from the date of award. If the Contractor fails to enter into the Contract through no fault of the Owner, he shall forfeit the security to the Owner.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities to the bids and to make the award in any manner deemed to be in the best interest of the Owner.

The anticipated project start date is Wednesday, June 20, 2012. The substantial completion date for construction and restoration of the project is August 22, 2012. The final completion date shall be on or before Sept 7, 2012.
